About Jen
I am passionate about helping people improve their emotional and relational health. The quality of our relationships (with our self or with others) is one of the most important influences on our sense of well-being. I provide a safe and supportive environment for your therapy experience. I will work with you in a way that is collaborative, warm, compassionate, honest, and intuitive. I believe therapy can be the most important work you will ever do. I would be honored to work with you and support you on your journey towards emotional health and well-being.
Training and Background
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with extensive training and experience in a wide range of treatment concerns. I care about providing quality therapy so I have completed additional training that is “above and beyond” the standard requirements for MFT licensure.
I have advance training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) from The Training and Research Institute for Emotionally Focused Therapy. EFT is one of the most well-researched methods for helping couples and has been used to help thousands of couples world-wide. EFT can help partners reconnect and become hopeful, even after a long pattern of distance, resentment, and/or conflict. Read more about EFT here.
I have completed training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) from the Sonoma Psychotherapy Training Institute (EMDRIA approved training). EMDR is an evidenced-based psychotherapy for treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). EMDR is well-documented to successfully treat many additional conditions including panic attacks, disturbing memories, stress reduction, addictions, sexual/physical abuse, performance anxiety and more. Read more about EMDR here.
I earned my Masters of Arts degree in Marital and Family Therapy & Pastoral Counseling from Bethel University/Seminary in San Diego, CA.
I am a member of ICCEFT (International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy). I am a member of EMDRIA (EMDR International Association). Additionally, I am a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) and AACC (American Association of Christian Therapists).
Therapy Style
My therapy approach is person-centered, emotion-focused and attachment based. That means I will be attuned to you, helping you increase awareness and insight while honoring your sense of self-determination. YOU are the most important person in the room!
I believe the quality of our relationships, with our self and others, directly affects the quality of our life. Improving your emotional and relational health can be the most important work you will ever do.
I look forward to working with you.
